Derek (our client) came into watch our films and give us crucial feedback on whether it could go on the site, what he liked about, things we could add etc.
Overall, he thought the way we captured the life of "Mandy" was excellent, the focus and out of focus filming of her looking the mirror and remembering the time she was bullied.
In solution to "Mandy's" problem we showed her opening the window of the "Youthoria" website, because we chose this Derek said our film will be able to be shown in many different parts of the website.

Feeback and Editing!
At the start of the day we watched each others films and gave contructive critism and positives in order to edit further or re-film.
We were slightly biased towards our film and we took on board the critisms and edited parts in order to make the message clearer.
While editing we came to the consistent problem of the fact we didn't have enough footage in some parts and that made frames of it a bit short. In solution we decided to slow down the part where she was having flashbacks, this made it more obvious she was having a flashback and it also solved the problem with there not being enough length in footage.
I learnt how to change the film according to the feedback we recieved but while still keeping my own initiative on whether it works well or not. In the previous project as soon as we got customer feedback I changed our product according to their every critism, which wasn't good because it ended up loosing our concept.
Next week, will we be showing the client our films and then further editing for our films to be precise. I'm hoping that we won't have to do more filming because in our group I have noticed we tend to take our time whilst editing and filming, so this will be quite time consuming. But if we have to, we will adapt and be faster.

If we had all participated in the various jobs we had to do, I think we would have progressed further.

Editing and Re-filming
Last week we planned to just concentrate on editing the film, but while editing we realised that some parts of the film we weren't happy with and therefore we resulted in re-filming parts.
Time wasn't on our side this week, so I suggested that I would stay at school, continue editing and finding suitable music, while Yeganeh and Chloe go off and film the rest of our Public Information Films. This worked well because all of us had something to do and they got back in time for me to edit what they had just captured.
We also asked for feedback from Mr Durran to see what we could change or add, this was useful because it made us see our film from a different perspective.
Next week we are watching each others films so far and I think that this would be a good opportunity to get feedback from people in the target audience, in order for us to change parts.

I have always found editing quite hard because of the precision aspect of it and today really put my skills to the test. Relating back to my research report, I found that the public enjoy seeing unique ideas in PIF's, so I edited the film so that the pace changed even though the music didn't and added in echos to emphasise the heavy thoughts in our victims mind.

More Filming and Editing!
This week we continued filming our Public Information Films. We were one member short in our team so Yeganeh and I had to adapt our plans for this week, only slightly though.
For this week we were aiming to watch back the film we had - to see what else was left to film, and begin to edit. But, because Chloe wasn't there we knew it would be hard to transport the filming equipment safely on our bikes to and fro different locations, so we adapted and came up with the plan of filming only at school but then asking to take out the filming equipment and film outside of school in our own time.
For the rest of the day we began editing the film we had.
The style of film we were going for was a continous shot - so the editing part of it is very important.
Yeganeh and I found it difficult to edit it in a continuous shot because we had to be precise otherwise the viewers would notice the editing.

Running Away - Filming
In today's lesson we began to film for our 'Youthoria Project', our aim was to get as much filming as we could done so that next week we could focus on editing. But, things didn't go according to our 'Shooting Shedule Sheet' because we didn't realise how long it actually takes to film our public information films so we ended up not getting to film everything we planned to.
In resolution to this we decided to ask if we could take the camera outside of school to film.
While shooting I thought it was organised quite well because we each got to film, using different composition techniques.
But, a problem we came across was at the end of the day we saw that we had 16 minutes of footage and we were hoping for the final product to be around 3 minutes so editing for next week will be a difficult part of the process.
During the filming and planning process it forced me to 'think outside the box' because PIF's of this time are quite creative, for example one of the ad's I researched was shown as a phone call, between the victim and a person helping her.
When we got to the filming we saw that it's harder to get all of our creative thoughts onto film so we then had to quickly adapt our ideas - which ended up taking time.
The inital idea was that we would film our main character walking home from school but we didn't want to face the hassle of going into all the shops we would possibly film so we again had to adapt and take out that chunk of film. Also, we conisidered in to be quite uneccesary to show her walking home; so simply just cut it to her leaving school and then opening the door.
Next week, we aim to spend half the day finishing our filming and maybe even re-doing bits and then the other half editing and finding music to go with the mood of 'Running Away From Home'.

Presenting and Planning
In todays lesson we refined our ideas for our Public Information Film on Running Away From Home.
In preparation for presenting to the client - Derek from Youthoria, we discussed as a group the details of the PIF for example the message we wanted to give out and how we would do that using different camera shots and angles.

Derek gave us contructive critism on how we were going to end the film because we gave the impression of ending it on quite a sour note. We have now changed the ending to come to more of a resolution. Also, because we are not only including the running away from home aspect but the reason why she is running away; bullying. While listening to the other groups presentations we saw that another group were filming the topic of bullying so we thought to consult with them in order for our themes not to clash.
For the presentation I took on the role of one of the main presenters; telling the client our idea how we would film it e.t.c and he was overall impressed.
I usually find it difficult to explain to others the ideas floating around in my head but I have learnt through out the two modules how to present clearly.
It was a good chance to practice my presentation skills this week because I haven't presented to a formal client many times. I think it would have been better if I had a list of bullet points to mention in order about our film because in front of me I had a rough mind-map and this made it harder to talk about each.

Editing The Chase and The Brief
In part one of todays lesson we edited our mini chase scenes on Adobe Premiere.
We wanted our chase scene to look continuous, so we had to be very precise because we filmed different angles and shots.
The continuity of an overall film is important because it maintains the visual illusion of not noticing where we have actually cut bits out or filmed many times. At first we found it difficult to make the shot where I walked outside to the moment when I was turning around looked continuous but it worked out because the upbeat music brought a stylistic edge to the film.
Below is our edited film:
My role in the group was audio and sound. I found it difficult to find an appropriate audio file to go with the chase scene so I experimented a lot with different genres. I found a heart beat sound clip and decided to add that in because it built up tension of when Yeganeh was running away from me and I then faded the upbeat music of the actual fast pace scenes. I thought that the phone line at the end was effective because it was in time with the dramatic slap and it gave the film a sense of closure.
I enjoyed the editing process because it was interesting to see how by just changing for example the music, changes the mood or atmosphere of the film.
Next week, I would like to film so that I can get a chance to learn how to set white balance and explore more into composition.
In the second part of the lesson we were given the brief in the form of an A4 piece of writing, giving us a detailed outline of our 'It's up to you?' project.
In my group we brainstormed three possibilities of topics which wish to film. We came up with Smoking and Drinking, Running away and Relationships. I came up with the idea of Running away because it's an interesting topic if you go deep into it for example why the person runs away or what triggers the thought of packing a bag and leaving your life behind.
As a group we discussed how we will portray the message, in the form of a story board.
Next week, as a group our aim is to finish the storyboard, polish our verbal presentation to the client.

Advertisement and The Chase!
For the first part of the lesson we watched several different public information films (old and new) and analysed them according to their target audience, purpose, methods, acting/voice over and the reflection of the time period affecting the advert.
We analysed quite deeply to pick up useful methods to use in our own films for example in the 'Think' - Camera Phone advert from 2006, we were shown a video taken on someone's phone of a group of friends having fun and then one suddenly gets ran over by a car. By using the method of capturing the film on a camera phone it makes it feel more realistic and personal to us because a lot of people in this period of time "hang around" taking videos, laughing with friends.
From this I learnt that the time period you make the advert corresponds with how people will react to it. For example we looked at 'Coughs and Sneezes' from 1945 and we noticed at pattern with all of the ads from this era which was that the voice was of an authoritative man using commanding tones and direct address.
In our short film of chase, we decided to have no speech but just music and to include as many different camera shots and angles as possible. The chase scene story line was that Yeganeh was about to purchasing drugs but before hand she wanted to call her dealer. We used an over the shoulder angle shot to show her texting. I thought this was effective because it made it more interesting and showed a different perspective.
I played the role of the person who was suspicious of her and began to run after. We did some hand held camera work, by making Yeganeh hold the camera whilst she was running from me to show point of view and to make it more realistic.
